I know the animation better than many other Disney sequels, but that just adds to the insult of this pointless cashgrab.
I really don't see anything in this. I refuse to believe that the fox and the hound are the same characters. They must be completely different animals which just happens to look exactly like them.
There was a period of Separation in the original and not them joining a stupid band of dogs singing country music. God, this is stupid! Of all the Disney movies that did not need a midquel this is one of them, and worst of all it makes no sense and do not tie into the original story AT ALL!
As much as I absolutely despise Belle's Magical World it at the very least ties into the time when Belle was held in Beast's castle (even though I still refuse to acknowledge them as Belle and Beast), but The Fox & The Hound 2 is just a completely different movie with no reason to exist other than being a cashgrab.

After watching Bambi II, I knew now that I can't trust Disney sequels. There always NEVER as good as the first. They suffer from being too babyish, TOO MUCH SINGING, sometimes even SHORTER then the first, and overall a LOT of people hate them. And that's the case with this.
Negatives: This, "Going to The Caraval" Crap never happened the first one. WHY THE HELL IS THIS STORYLINE HERE? I hate that little girl. NO REASON WHY SHE'S THERE. Too Babyish sometimes. Not as babyish as Bambi II though.
Positives: I admit I had some fun watching this. Dixie and cash is the only new character I like in this sequel. Animation is VERY good.
There is a lot of problems but it's sort of better then Bambi II. So I guess that's a plus.

Was really looking forward to seeing this remake of the original Disney animated feature. Although I've grown used to Disney's declining standards of quality, I was completely surprised by the overall crappiness of this movie. The animation is haphazard, the story line is dull and predictable. But worst of all is the constant slapstick antics of every character falling into mud, boinking their heads, tripping on things, etc. About the same quality as 'modern' Saturday morning cartoons, that is to say, not fit for adults or halfway intelligent kids. The voice characterization of Reba McIntire is the only saving grace of the movie. Strongly recommend you pass on this version of Fox and Hound...the original is much, much better.

If you're looking for a light-hearted, cute animated movie to enjoy with your family or just by yourself, I would recommend giving this prequel a try. While I am more of a fan of the original Fox and The Hound movie (which I highly recommend), it still made me smile and feel warm and fuzzy inside.
The animation was mostly good and better than many sequel direct-to-video animated movie releases (Balto sequels, I'm looking at you). It was not without it's flaws, however; at times I found the CGI with the ferris wheel and vehicles to be a touch jarring in comparison to the traditional animation. Likewise I think they did a decent job in the voice acting department with the original characters sounding relatively close (moreso for Todd and Copper) enough to what they sounded like in the original movie.

They used Copper and Todd as young kids in the move, and at the End of the 1st movie they where all grown-up and they should have started them grown up. In all of the Disney 1st movies like Toy story Andy was little but in the 2nd movie he was a big kids, and also in lion King Simba is little lion and in the 2nd movie he is a big lion, also in the little mermaid Ariel fine Eric in the 1st movie and in the 2nd movie the has a daughter. I so not like the music in the movie I like the music in the 1st one better. I would not let my kids see the movie. My kids like the 1st one better. They do not have Big mama, Vixey, Dinky, Boomer. If they do a 3rd one I hope it is better then the 2nd one.

Fox and the Hound 2 is one of those cheap direct-to-DVD sequels made by Disney, and strayed away from the original. It has none of the charm of the original, the comedy within the picture is not funny, in fact, the title of the movie is Fox and Hound 2, and yet, it makes us feel like we're paying less attention to the Fox and the Hound. It adds in new characters, but they don't make any sense. The whole goal of the new characters is to, I'm not even kidding, sing at the Grand Opry. Here's one question. What the hell does that have to do with the original? And, this movie jumps the shark so many times that it's really hard to sit through. But, aside from the negatives, the positives, which were hard to identify, do include the animation's improvement, even though I love the original's hand-drawn style, and the beginning and end are the parts that are basically the best parts. After seeing this picture, I have wondered for days how this movie could've resulted. I really wish it could've been better. I really do. But, still, it's one of the worst Disney movies I have seen in my life. And that's coming from a fox lover.

I suppose that most of us are now familiar with the term "Disney midquel", however I was not until I purchased the Fox and the Hound 2. (Because of the title's long name, I will refer to it as TFATH 2) The animation was stunning, and the characters were very smooth and polished, like most of Disney's DTV followups. However, the same cannot be said for the somewhat lackluster story.
**this comment contains mild spoilers**
Copper and Tod are portrayed as pups in TFATH 2, yes, despite the "2" in the title's name. Copper becomes a member of the "singing strays", replacing an old member, and Tod becomes jealous. Well, we all know how this sort of story ends. How Disney manages to gain fanclubs for these midquels again and again (Bambi II is a good example of this) mystifies me. TFATH 2's quality was sub-par, and the story was a complete failure when compared to true Disney films such as the Lion King, Bambi, exc... Let us not forget the tacky country songs that will drive non die-hard country music fans up the wall. Now how could kids enjoy that?
I did not appreciate how Disney has fooled me by calling this a sequel. I hope that this review helps others to not make the same mistake that I did.

As far as my experience with certain Disney sequels I was prepared for either success or failure. I got somewhere in the middle, the animation was lively and the acting good, but in the spirit of the original I didn't think it was quite there. The story failed to elaborate in relation to the original, unlike Bambi II which pulled it with surprising success. Having watched Bambi II I was very much expecting to see something of the same caliber, but this fell a little short. Too many new characters were introduced and several of the old characters didn't even merit a cameo appearance which was a little disappointing.
However, the movie still had it's fair share of cute moments to make you giggle, which was one of it's saving graces. The animation is at a great standard and no obvious flaws to spot and was casted reasonably well. I was concerned when the cover said "The music of today's hottest stars is centre stage" which sounded like a poor effort to grab the attention of any mainstream dolt, but the soundtrack wasn't too bad and had me tapping my toes in a few places.
From the point of view of a Disney cartoon it was a little under powered but it's still got some good laughs and pleasant moments, but don't go expecting the repeat success of the original.

I saw the original "Fox And The Hound" on Netflix. But once I did, I felt kind of sad and morbid, (I actually cried on my bed right after I saw it) the story had nice ideas, great characters, and all that good stuff. But the idea of two best friends becoming enemies and actually trying to kill each other is just not my cup of tea. I'm not saying that I hate the movie, I still think its one of the great Disney classics along with Robin Hood and Lady and the Tramp. I just think that it left me in a cloud of sadness and melancholy.
Then I saw the sequel, and I was pleasantly surprised....
This one actually relieved me of the bittersweet feeling I got with the first. The film is a prequel that starts all over and decides to change the ideas of the first one by lightening it up a little bit. (something that would normally be seen as a cop out, but for me it's perfect) So now we have a film that leaves me with a more positive feeling than a cold, dark one like with the original.
Along with a good idea, the film has more things to keep it running, just to give one example, PATRICK FRIGGIN SWAYZE!!! Now with a guy like him, you can't go wrong, as he gives a great performance that you could get out of him.
Now about the crappy reception the film is getting...
Most people are striking this film on just the fact that it's not as good as the original, and thus give the film a thumbs down.
The thing is when you're watching one of these sequels, you have to come in with an open mind, the least of expectations. Because you are watching a sequel, a film that will never be as good or as groundbreaking as the first. You just have to focus on the ideas about it trying to follow up or be prior to the first.
So while some people just bash this film to the ground, others like me either give it a positive review, or like me, Two Thumbs Up!
I consider this a great film to watch if you want to watch Fox and The Hound in a different way, or if you weren't satisfied with the first and want to see a more upbeat take.
